High Impact Opportunities for Scranton Kids and Youth

Our mission is to empower the inner-city children, youth, and family with HOPE by connecting them to life-changing relationships. This mission is currently being pursued through year-round mentorship programs and events that serve students who live in Valley View Terrace, Hilltop Manor Apartments, and the surrounding Scranton area.

Our fundraiser goal is to invest in our two highest impact and life-changing summer events for students:

  1. The first event is a week of teen camp for our students.

  2. The second event is a week of an outdoor neighborhood programs for kids in Southside Scranton.

Camp Kanesatake Week for Teens

Our fundraiser goal is to provide full scholarships, funding needs, and the trip for Scranton youth students to experience a life-changing week at summer camp; Camp Kanesatake (Camp K)! We average anywhere from 15-30 students who attend camp.

“I love coming to Camp K,” Yemmsy (15 years old) said, who is entering his fourth summer of attending summer camp. “I come here to learn about God, plus I just got saved (there). I love coming here because the counselors are great and the games are great!”

Yemmsy has been a student of Mission Scranton’s life-changing mentorship program and community since 2018. Our programs focus on long-term empowerment through reaching and mentoring children and youth who live in low-income city neighborhoods. We are reaching students all-year-round who live in Valley View Terrace and Hilltop Manor Apartment neighborhoods and the surrounding area.

Neighborhood Kids Program Week

This will be our fourth annual fun-filled program week that will be held in Hilltop Manor Apartments for children from the Southside neighborhoods. We partner with Steamtown Church to provide a fun and safe place for kids to play, join a team-oriented games and activities, sing, eat a meal, earn prizes, make friends, and more! We have served over 100 students and their families during this event week. (Check out the video above to see the highlights from last summer).

In the last few year, this program has led to connecting most of our new students to our year-round mentorship program.

You can be part of our long-term investment in students' lives like Yemmsy’s and neighborhoods like Hilltop by helping provide these life-changing opportunities. Be part of the LIFE-CHANGE through giving today!
