Mission Vision's Vision of Hope program involves partnerships with area schools, crisis and homeless shelters, federally-qualified medical clinics, soup kitchens, food pantries and other community service organizations to supply free vision screenings and new prescription eyewear to those who desperately need but cannot afford these services. Our mobile unit provides eye care services on site at these locations, where such citizens are already having their primary need for food, shelter, education and medical attention met. Thus, we enhance services of each partner-provider, effectively expanding their continuum of care. Trained medical volunteers, including state-licensed optometrists, certified opticians, and ophthalmic and optometric technicians, staff the mobile clinics (approximately 80 professional volunteers annually).
