When MIA started working in Savanette there had not been a school, clean water for miles, medical care and the people there had no opportunites for employment.  Now 9 years later we have 289 children grades kindergarten through 6th grade with a 100% pass rate.  The medical clinic across the road is satffed by two Haitian nurses and we hold medical clinics when we take trips.  There is a wonderful 200 foot well that provides much needed clean water to the community.  There are 13 water stations and drip irrigation.  The Circle of Life program has 53 peopel who make a good income makign jewlery andother productds for sale inthe US.  The Ron Meier Farm Resource Center uses shipping containers to make our guest house, The Leatherman Conference Cneter and housing for groups to come to learn new agricultural techniques.  We have 3 and one half arces of land ready for experimental crops.  We hope to begin tilapia fish farming and aquaponics as soon as funding is available.

MIA's goals are different than many charitable organizations since we do not believe in the "hand out" mentality or taking teams into build or paint.  Haitians are quite capable of doing work with funding and training.  We always desrie to work with the Haitians not for the Haitians.  Our major goal is to create financial idependence for the area.

Our needs at this point are to finsh the farm resource center to allow for job creation.  We need several more shipping containers and funding for the necessary programs involved.
