Mitchell’s Place was established in 2005 in response to the growing community need for specialized services for children with autism. Nancy and Allen Meisler were instrumental in its creation and funding after searching for several years for appropriate services for their son, Mitchell, who was diagnosed with autism at age two.

The Meislers envisioned a place where families could receive comprehensive services for their loved ones with autism in a single location.

Mitchell’s Place offers a full range of services including: Early Learning Program (ELP), a comprehensive early intervention program for young children with ASD (ages two to six); Teach Me, designed to meet the needs of children who require more intense therapy and guidance to attain desired outcomes; After-School Social and Academic Enrichment Program (ASAP), dedicated to the advancement of social, academic and recreational skills for children ages six to 18 years with high functioning autism or Asperger’s Syndrome; a Summer Camp Program which builds upon the principles of ASAP in an expanded day format; and Applied Behavior Analysis Outpatient program for school-age children with autism. In addition Mitchell’s Place provides diagnostic & evaluation services, speech pathology, occupational therapy, psychological and psychiatric services, teacher training and school consultation services.

Mitchell’s Place works collaboratively with other organizations and universities to apply and support research efforts to identify best practices in the treatment of autism.
