The MO Equity Education Partnership’s mission is to advocate and mobilize for inclusion, diversity, equity, academic integrity, and accessibility for all individuals in all aspects of community life.
Our mission is directly influenced by its story. When the first anti-critical race theory bill was introduced in April 2021, our founder, Heather Fleming, began a Facebook group and invited individuals around the state to join so that they could discuss how to respond to this threat to equity. With the help of co-director Amber Benge and a dedicated team of volunteers, this group eventually grew into the MO Equity Education Partnership.
Currently we work in every area where equity is threatened. Our activities fall into one of four areas: Advocacy, Activism, Education, and Support. We advocate for equity; organize to help others use their voices; educate individuals and groups about inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA); and support individuals who find themselves under attack because of their equity stances and work. While we have met with victory in many of these areas, we know that there is more work to do to combat anti-equity measures and movements and to ensure that we see the implementation of more equitable policies and practices well into our future.
