Supporting the Vermont Mentoring Community

Leading Statewide Mentoring Initiatives.

Working with mentoring programs and funders across the state, Mobius plans and implements statewide mentoring initiatives.

Mobius maintains:
● A statewide directory of mentoring programs,
● A volunteer referral system on its website, and
● The Vermont Mentoring Database, a tool for programs to collect and manage mentoring data.

Current initiatives include:
● Working with programs to develop a common statewide survey system,
● Implementing the Quality Mentoring System to help programs ensure that they are meeting best practices,
● Ensuring mentoring matches have the opportunity to continue through the mentee’s high school graduation,
● Launching a statewide mentor discount card to help make mentoring more affordable for volunteers, and
● Planning for Vermont Mentoring Month in January.

Supporting mentoring programs.
Mobius offers ongoing assistance to mentoring programs by maintaining the Mobius website as a statewide resource, managing a statewide mentoring database, connecting programs and sharing resources, and forming relationships with partners in the community. Mobius also provides hands-on support to programs to ensure that they are meeting best practices. 

Funding mentoring programs.
Mobius provides grant funding through the Vermont Mentoring Grants initiative to start new mentoring programs, and to expand the quality and capacity of existing mentoring programs. Funds for the Vermont Mentoring Grants come from the State of Vermont, as well as from The Permanent Fund for Vermont’s Children and the A.D. Henderson Foundation.

Raising public awareness of mentoring.
Mobius raises awareness of mentoring throughout Vermont by promoting mentoring stories through media outreach, print materials, monthly newsletters, and through social media and the web Each January, Mobius works with mentoring programs to lead a statewide National Mentoring Month campaign. Mobius also leads efforts to advocate for mentoring in the community and in the state government.
