Model Forest Policy Program Inc

Model Forest Policy Program (MFPP) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that builds the capacity of communities to be climate resilient by sustaining water resources, productive forests, citizens’ wellbeing, and thriving economies. Our planning programs, Climate Solutions University (CSU) and the Resilient Rural America Project (RRAP), support community-based planning, resulting in locally driven, practical, and ready to implement climate resilience goals, objectives and strategies that protect communities from flood, drought, fire and other climate impacts. Since 2010, over 50 communities, primarily rural, and Tribal entities around the U.S. have participated.

The Model Forest Policy Program also offers implementation consulting services that help local decision-makers and community leaders identify and implement solutions that protect resources associated with small and large watersheds and coastal areas, increase the use of green infrastructure to safeguard critical water supplies and vulnerable populations from climate risks, and educate communities on resilient strategies. Together, we work to build local capacity and ensure economic resilience and protection of subsistence way of life, increased quality of life, and minimization of climate impacts.
