Moms on a Mission

Moms on a Mission is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating change and improving the community by supporting youth, mothers who lost a child to gun violence and senior citizens. Moms on a Mission was founded to unify and support grieving mothers in the community by providing opportunities for community involvement and service.

The collective vision of Moms on a Mission is to bring measurable change to the community and to improve the wellbeing of our community by advocating for an end to the senseless gun violence that wreaks havoc in the Shreveport-Bossier area. Established in 2022, MOMS launched with the induction of twenty-five (25) mothers who have lost a child to gun violence. MOMS has inducted an additional 50 grieving mothers since our initial launch. Mom’s Circle of Healing is a monthly support group for mothers who have lost a child to gun violence. The goal is to help mothers work through grief by providing healthy coping techniques and free professional services from licensed providers, along with activities for stress reduction and enhancing well-being including mindfulness training, yoga, journaling and meditation. 

Over the years, we have organized/participated in 100+ community events, and garnered recognition from major local, state and national news stations. Our projects have included Backpack Giveaways, Adopt a Child(ren) for Christmas, Health Fairs, Veterans Day Service Projects, National Night Out Sponsors, Domestic Violence Peace Walks, Senior Citizens’ Feeding Events, Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaways, Citywide National Day of Prayer, Youth Feeding Programs, Community Giveaways, National Night Out, Community Baby Shower,  Bibles and Brunch, Clothing Giveaways and many more.

Moms on a Mission depends solely upon donations from individuals and businesses to finance our service projects. Martha E. Tyler is the CEO and Founder of Moms on a Mission.
