Montana Wilderness School

The MWS mission is to provide empowering expeditionary wilderness courses to youth that foster personal growth and cultivate a conservation ethic through connecting with remote landscapes and wild places. 

Our summer program is directed toward Montana teenagers 14-18 years old and our multi-week backcountry expeditions operate on Montana public lands around the state.  Our goal is to serve all communities in Montana celebrating and supporting diversity with male and female teenagers who differ racially, socioeconomically, culturally and geographically.

 

Our values are to experience and celebrate public lands, wild spaces and wilderness areas; build student personal growth and develop character; creatively teach through experiential education and place-based learning; provide opportunities for technical skill competency; and create healthy communities by providing leadership and life skill building experiences; preparing youth to be successful in our diverse interconnected society.
