Morning Star News (http://morningstarnews.org) is the only independent, professional news service devoted exclusively to covering the persecution of Christians for their faith.
Morning Star News covers all the issues that persecuted Christians face around the world, but our primary focus is on uncovering unknown cases of persecution with original, first-hand reporting.
In doing this, Morning Star News helps aid organizations find those in need of assistance and we give freedom-of-religion groups the information they need to launch effective advocacy campaigns for imprisoned and at-risk believers.
Our mission is two-fold. One, it is our calling to publish consistently credible information about persecution of Christians so that those in the free world can pray, put pressure on governments and otherwise offer help. Two, it is our calling to strengthen persecuted Christians by letting them know they are not forgotten or alone as they tell us their stories and learn of the suffering of their brethren elsewhere.
Morning Star News was the first news service to report on Meriam Ibrahim, the pregnant Christian mother in Sudan who was sentenced to death for “apostasy.” Initially, Meriam’s plight was unknown to the world. But our coverage resulted in her release after news outlets in the “secular media” issued non-stop follow-up stories that unleashed a firestorm of protests from concerned Christians and pressure from governments and advocacy groups. Our coverage has also resulted in aid to victims of persecution in Egypt, Sudan, Uganda, Somalia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Tanzania, Algeria and other countries.
Several of our correspondents risk their lives in this endeavor and their dedication is unwavering. One is on a “fatwa” list of a terrorist group of Christians to be killed, one regularly risks being beaten by extremists when covering stories and one has an office adjacent to a church building that was bombed.
In addition to subscriptions from numerous government agencies and religious rights organizations around the world, the work of Morning Star News is carried by nearly all Christian media and is subscribed to by many secular news media outlets in North America, Europe and Australia. Our stories have appeared in The Christian Post, the Baptist Press, Christianity Today magazine, World Magazine, WND (formerly WorldNetDaily), Fox News, BBC World, Beliefnet, Inspire Magazine (UK), and Sight magazine (Australia), among others.
