        The Morongo Basin Historical Society is dedicated to preserving the vast and rich history of the many communities that make up the Morongo Basin. These Communities include Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, Pioneertown, Landers, Johnson Valley, Joshua Tree & the Joshua Tree National Park, Twentynine Palms & the Marine Corps Training Base as well as Wonder Valley.

       Some of the more famous items of historical significance include The Willie Boy Saga, a great deal of Gold Mining and Prospecting, the Big Morongo Canyon Preserve, Some of the USA's very last Homesteading, a lot more Cattle Ranching than you might think, the world famous western delight that is Pioneertown, USA, Aliens and UFOs, Giant Rock along with the Integratron, and so much more!

  • To Conduct & Archive Oral Interviews
  • To Maintain A Database Library
  • To Preserve Rare Manuscripts & Artifacts

  • Restoring A Homestead Cabin Built In 1956 By Member Steve Hanson 
  • Replicating An 1880's Miner's Cabin At The Museum
  • Digitizing Our Many, Many Collections In The Research Center
  • Morongo Basin Sites Book Project: Homesteaders, Water & Mining
