The Morrison Communities: Honoring Our Legacy, Investing
In Our Future

For over a century, The Morrison Communities has stood as a
cornerstone of compassionate, person-centered healthcare in the North Country.
Since our founding by Dr. George Morrison in 1903, we’ve proudly served the
rural communities of Coos County and surrounding areas guided by values of
dignity, access, and education.

This year, The Morrison Communities is embarking on an
exciting and ambitious project: a major beautification and facilities
improvement initiative designed to upgrade
both our historic Morrison campus and the scenic Summit campus.

Revitalizing a Historic Landmark

At our original Morrison campus, we’re breathing fresh life
into The Morrison Skilled Nursing Facility and Sartwell Place. Upgrading
safety, accessibility, and care infrastructure works in tandem with preserving
the building’s character and it’s place in Whitefield’s rich history. These
renovations bring aesthetics and essentials together to ensure The Morrison
continues to meet the needs of our community for generations to come. Highlights
of the Morrison Renovation include:

  • Restoring the external brickwork

  • Replacing worn flooring and refreshing paint

  • Investing in new care equipment and mattresses
    for our residents

  • Refreshing hallways and common areas to create a
    more welcoming and comfortable environment

  • Enhancing fire safety with additional sprinkler
    systems

  • Completing the boiler room upgrade

Bringing Beauty and Wellness Outdoors

At our Summit campus, we’re answering the call from
residents and families for a more vibrant and engaging outdoor experience. The
Summit Landscaping Project will build on the natural beauty of the White
Mountains and invite community members to experience the joy and peace of
nature through wellness and connection. We are gearing up to make the Summit outdoor
spaces more accessible and satisfying than ever! New features may include:

  • Fenced dog area for off-leash play

  • Planting shade trees and blooming shrubs

  • Wildflowers for seasonal beauty and pollinator
    support

  • Better blending of structures into the natural
    environment

  • Expansion of accessible walking areas

Modernizing for Better Care

Across both campuses, we’re also advancing our technological
infrastructure to support the highest standards of care. This includes
upgrading our server, enhancing non-invasive security solutions, and ensuring
both staff and residents have access to up-to-date devices and equipment.

A Community Effort

Our vision is already being brought to life thanks to the
generous support of our Board of Trustees, whose early contributions have
provided a match of $5000 to the NH Gives fundraising efforts! Their commitment
reflects the deep trust and pride our leadership holds in our organization.
These projects represent more than bricks and plants – they represent the
ongoing commitment to our mission and the people we serve. With your gift
through NH Gives today, together we can build a better, more beautiful Morrison
for the elders of our community and their loved ones!
