We live by the Eden Alternative Philosophy, to improve the well-being of Elders and their care partners by transforming the communities in which they live and work.  We strive every day to fight the plaques of loneliness, helplessness, and boredom within our Elder-centered community. By enriching their lives with spontaneity and creating an enironment in which unexpected and unpredictable interactions and happenings can take place. ( such as getting to take off your shoes and socks and let the sand and water run over and through your toes at the lake.  Getting to release homing pigeons on your 102nd birthday) We seek to place the maximum possible decision-making authority back into the hands of our Elders.  We surround them with loving human and animal compaionship.  We see the importance of children's laughter being heard about the hallways and enriching our elder's lives while bringing a smile to their face.  together our battle will never end, we will continue to grow and provide the best possible, nuturing, home-like enviroment for the Elder's that we love and care so much about.  When you think of our Elder's has your grandmother, grandfather, mom or dad you only want the best for them as this is their home.
