Mount Holyoke College Senior Campaign

When founding Mount Holyoke in 1837, Mary Lyon charged her students to  "go where no one else will go, do what no one else will do." Mary Lyon believed that all lives would be better if women were given every opportunity to live up to their potential. In 1837, her revolutionary vision was to empower women through education - and change the world. Her efforts over 176 years ago enable us to continue to go out in the world and help our communities.  

Mary Lyon could not have founded MHC alone - it took a community of support to help provide the buildings, books, food, and furniture, not to mention the teachers that inspired the incredible women who paved the way for us!

Just as Mount Holyoke could not have existed without the support of a community that believed – and invested – in Mary Lyon’s bold idea, we are also an important part of our larger community.  As one of the Five Colleges, we draw students from all over the globe to find their home the Pioneer Valley, whether for the duration of their education or for the rest of their life.  Mount Holyoke is a global community for passionate, articulate, brilliant and empathetic leaders, and we bring our unique perspectives, skills and talents to the wider world around us.

We also serve as an intellectual and cultural hub for many in the Valley, offering a wide array of lectures, cultural performances, art exhibitions, concerts, and special events.  These events, like the Women in Public Service Project, co-hosted with Smith College and Simmons College, brought incredible leaders from all over the world to our campus to discuss the incredible challenges facing the world. 

Mount Holyoke would not be able to provide such a broad, transformational education to thousands of students each year without the support of its community. Every year, donations from alumnae, family, friends, and graduating Seniors help to support the things that make Mount Holyoke so special - our incredible faculty, who care deeply about not only our academic success, but our personal success as well.  Our beautiful campus, that helps make MHC "MoHome".  Our traditions, that connect us to alumnae across the decades.  Our green initiatives, that ensure that there will be a brighter future for the next generation of Mohos.
