Mountain Circle

There are so many worthy causes in the Washoe County community, and we realize you have a choice when it comes to which charities you support- we hope you will consider Mountain Circle! We are a small non-profit foster care agency, serving about 20 children each day, and we are fundraising to provide them with special activities like dance lessons and camp tuition.

There is compelling evidence that foster youth need a great deal more support in addressing the challenges they face: less than half will finish high school, 25% will be incarcerated within the first two years of emancipation, and young women in foster care are more than twice as likely as their peers to become teen parents. But we can change this!

Funds raised through the Nevada Big Give will provide new opportunities for foster children to build self-confidence, self-reflection, and leadership skills- activities like local camp tuition and dance lessons. For kids in foster care, these are little things which make a BIG difference. 

Mountain Circle is proud to have served over 1,000 children and youth and their caregivers as they navigate ‘the system’ of foster care in Northern Nevada. We have been around for over 30 years and our approach is simple: Offer the best possible training to foster parents, provide 24/7 support by experienced social workers/mentors, and equip older foster youth with the skills they will need to be productive adults in the real world.
