Mountain Communities Boys and Girls Club

Josh joined the Club in 2003 as a 2nd grader.  From the outset he was a discipline problem at the Club, at school, and at home.  His grades were poor due to his discipline problems.  During the next 4 years he went from crawling under tables and yelling and throwing things at staff to participating in activities and becoming an enjoyable member.  It was during middle school that he finally began to take pride in his school work and grades. Most members leave the Club during middle school and certainly upon entering high school.  Josh continued to attend frequently during middle school and volunteered all summer after 8th grade and continued to visit to talk to staff during high school.  He graduated high school in 2014 and has recently joined the Marines.  This is exactly what we are trying to help all of our members achieve.
