Please note:  Gifts received on May 3, 2016 will be directed to the MVEF Endowment.  The MVEF Endowment exists to ensure that future students receive the same high-quality education that today's students do.

The Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF) raises money and provides funding for enrichment programs and educational materials to enhance the solid academic curriculum and maintain the high quality of education in the Mountain View Whisman School District. MVEF has primarily focused on annual fundraising, with gifts to the Foundation used for current year programs and meeting immediate needs.

The MVEF Endowment was created in November 1999 with the goal of providing long-term, perpetual financial support to MVEF.  Gifts to the endowment are invested with a portion of the return disbursed to MVEF each year once the fund reaches $500,000.  As of March 2016, the Endowment had $457,974.

In the 2015-16 school year, MVEF gave a grant of $792,000 to the Mountain View Whisman School District to support:

  • Progressive art curriculum building students' creative and conceptual thinking
  • Music classes for K-5 grade
  • Purchase and maintenance of musical instruments in middle schools
  • Support for libraries across the district
  • Comprehensive, hands-on science curriculum for K-5 grade
  • Integrated science and garden programs for grades kinder to third
  • Science lab materials and supplies for the middle schools
  • After school sports that foster healthy activity, teamwork, and competition
  • Extended-day electives such as jazz band, orchestra, choir, student-run television, robotics, speech, chess and more.

Without funding from MVEF, these programs would be significantly reduced or not exist at all. Help us continue to provide all students in MVWSD with a fantastic education that has them prepared for college and the world!
