The Mansfield-Richland Area Educational Foundation was created in 1980 to provide a way for economic training and understating to the Richland County community. The Foundation started by continuing a program the Chamber had started in the early 70’s that provided graduate credit for local teachers to take economic education courses. It was the hope of the Educational Foundation that these teachers would bring that economic training back to the classroom and teach their students, preparing their students for the real world. In the first year alone, 82 teachers took part in the program who then taught over 200 students. In 1982, the founders of the Educational Foundation realized we had an opportunity to create new leaders in our community and created the Leadership Unlimited program, which now has over 1000 alum. In the early 2000’s, the Foundation introduced the youth leadership program which ended to make room for the latest program, the Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!).
The Mansfield-Richland Area Educational Foundation’s mission is to invest in our community’s future success through impactful educational opportunities for both adults and youth focusing on leadership development, economics, and entrepreneurship.
The Educational Foundation accomplishes their goals each year by offering a number of programs to our community. Those programs include:
