Foundation for Independent Living Inc

John is a person with a disability. He collected disability insurance, had a Medicare card and got by. Today, John is gainfully employed as a stock room supervisor. Due to his income, he is now a tax-paying citizen and looks forward to getting up every day and going to work, having lunch with his co-workers and living independently in his own home.

Mountain State Centers for Independent Living (MTSTCIL), with offices in Huntington and Beckley, has been working with people with disabilities for over 30 years. The Employment Services Division at MTSTCIL works with people with disabilities to assist them in entering or re-entering the workforce. MTSTCIL helps people with disabilities develop an employment goal and provides training, classes, resume writing assistance as well as the skills necessary to sucessfully seek and retain employment.

We need your help. Due to federal and state budget cutbacks, we need $50,000 to continue the Employment Services Division through the next year. Please make a donation to help us as we continue to help West Virginians with disabilities find employment.

We thank Chad Pennington and the 1st and 10 Foundation for their generous grant of $22,000 that enabled MTSTCIL to purchase the accessible vans needed to transport people with disabilities to MTSTCIL offices for training. Now we need your help to continue the training to find employment.
