In nearly 40 years, the Museum of Nebraska Art has grown to be the preeminent collection of artworks reflecting Nebraska's history through the visual arts. Founded in 1976, the Nebraska Art Collection consisted of a few pieces and a dream of creating a collection to showcase Nebraska's unique artistic culture.

Today, MONA is a regional center for cutural activity, with over 20,000 visitors enjoying the Museum free of charge each year. Not only does the Museum continue to address its mission of collecting and preserving art, but MONA also provides scholarly, educational, and outreach programming for people of all ages.

It is through the generosity of donors that MONA has grown from a small collection of 30 artworks in 1976 to a permanent collection now totalling over 6,000 pieces.

Your donation to MONA also helps keep the Museum free of charge for visitors, provides hands-on art classes to children and adults, aids in schools bringing their students to MONA through our Miles to MONA program, as well as allowing the Musuem to offer a distance learning program for schools unable to make the trip to Kearney.

We are proud of the art of Nebraska, and we hope you are too!
