Help us help the community.
Memories and memorabilia from the first flickering moments of television to what you watched last night will anchor a new immersive destination where families can share their personal histories, students can learn and train and leisure guests can reunite with the greatest TV shows, artists and artifacts of all time.
The world-class collection to be exclusively exhibited at the MOT has been featured on Oprah, The Today Show and Entertainment Tonight and in publications including Forbes, the Wall Street Journal and People Magazine. The collection is the largest of its kind, the founder is the most celebrated expert in his art market, the design team has built attractions from Jurassic Park to Harry Potter and television is America’s number one leisure-time activity. The donation you make today tells decision makers that you want the Museum of Television to open in Arizona!
Mission:
The Museum of Television is an interactive social history museum that aims to educate, entertain and inspire the visitor by exploring the dynamic history of the second half of the 20th century and beyond through the examination of the reciprocal relationship between television and popular culture. Fundamental to the museum’s mission is the promotion of a deeper understanding of American modern history easily accessible through the creative study of the evolution of television programming.
Within 20 years of its introduction to the American public, television was ubiquitous earning a permanent place in living rooms across America as a primary source of entertainment, news and cultural unity. The MOT aims to give the visitor a fresh look at how television helped shape their life, the life of the nation and solidified America’s place in the world.
Vision Statement:
The trustees of the MOT are dedicated to education and public service. With more than 5000 artifacts from television’s broad history as the core of the story, they believe it can offer the community a great museum experience that can play a role in the general education of young people that attend local schools in Greater Phoenix. The MOT will work with teachers and school officials to develop meaningful exhibitions, programs and activities that will enhance the classroom experiences. The MOT will also offer the perfect framework for easy discussion and understanding of the dramatic changes in the last seven decades of American history, a history unit that is often glossed over in the classroom due to lack of time and resources. Another core objective is to mentor and serve the population of surrounding universities with programs designed to connect students with experts who can demystify what it takes to succeed in the changing industry and offer hands on experience in a real working environment.
We will never share your information, and all donations of $5000 or more will be recognized on our Founder's Wall.
