Mutt Love Rescue is dedicated to rescuing dogs left homeless for whatever reason – dogs in public shelters where they are at high risk of euthanasia due to pet overpopulation, dogs given up by their owners because of difficult circumstances, and those in danger of abuse or neglect.

Mutt Love Rescue places dogs in loving, responsible, committed permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and discussing with prospective adopters the responsibilities and costs of bringing a dog into their homes and lives.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, receive all appropriate veterinary care and treatment, and, wherever possible, placed in nurturing foster homes while they await placement in their permanent homes.  We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement.  To the extent our finances allow, dogs in the greatest need take priority.

We are determined to keep administrative expenses extremely low so that virtually every dollar taken in is spent directly on the dogs in our care.  Mutts remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the dog beyond the adoption process.

Your designation of Mutts is a donation well spent, as well as much needed,  because:

  • Mutts has no paid staff, we are an all-volunteer group; hence virtually all money contributed goes directly to the medical care and temporary housing of our dogs.  The number of dogs we can save is directly related to our support from the community, friends such as you.
  • Mutts is one of few groups that accepts and, to the extent possible, makes whole old, sick and injured dogs, as well as the readily adoptable; our resources are directed where the need is greatest; no dog is refused because of breed.
  • We network with rural shelters to take in and rehome discarded hunting dogs and others who otherwise would not stand a chance.
  • Emphasis is placed on making the best possible match between dog and adoptive person/family; all dogs are altered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm and tick-borne disease tested, and on heartworm preventative at time of adoption; many are microchipped.
  • We are sensitive to taking in dogs made homeless by economic dislocation, deployment, medical and/or age related circumstances.
  • Every dog receives individual, loving attention by volunteers dedicated to making our dogs thrive; an in-house volunteer trainer is available to advise; foster homes are constantly sought and provided wherever possible.

Finally, we strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless pets.
