We created Heroes Linked - www.heroeslinked.org - to answer a specific need overwhelmingly requested by surveyed servicemembers transitioning out of the military - the need for effective guidance.

Launching a new career is a multifaceted endeavor that requires polished presentation skills, a network of contacts, a familiarity with today's business environment, and the right mindset.

Heroes Linked allows Veterans to seek out volunteer advisors that can guide them in perfecting each of these aspects while allowing those volunteers to pass on their personal knowledge in a secure web-managed environment. Heroes Linked strikes the perfect balance between intensive one-on-one mentoring programs and passive question-and-answer style forums. By matching personal connections through Voice Over IP technologies with browser-based selection and messaging infrastructure and paired with an easy-to-use, mobile-friendly user interface, Heroes Linked delivers a truly one-of-a-kind experience that is a badge of honor, rather than a cry for help.

The population of Veterans will increase dramatically in the coming years. Defense cutbacks will push some 200,000 servicepersons out of the military each year for the next decade, including tens of thousands who were led to believe that their service was to be their career.

Heroes Linked rests upon the simple premise that Americans who did not serve in the military possess something that is of great value to Veterans and servicepersons transitioning out of the military - their career experiences and knowledge of the private sector job market.

Heroes Linked recognizes that family is the heart of the U.S. Armed Forces. That is why spouses of our Veterans and servicepersons in transition deserve and receive the same type of assistance.

Your support will help us toward our goal to roll out beta testing for the Heroes Linked platform in 2015.

The MVAT Foundation also provides grants to carefully vetted and best performing charitable Veterans Serving Organizations. There are many requirements that charities must meet to receive funding from the MVAT Foundation. Acting as a fiduciary for our donors, the beneficiary selection process is deliberative. MVAT’s Beneficiaries Committee analyzes funding proposals under such criteria as organizational financial health, program efficiencies and outcomes, and good governance practices. Emphasis is placed on smaller organizations or is restricted to specific programs where the MVAT grant can make a material difference in that group’s ability to carry out their Veterans support activities.

VSOs receiving recent support from the MVAT Foundation include: The Pathway Home, The Green Beret Foundation, New Directions for Veterans, and K9s for Warriors.
