$20,000 Goal

My Sister My Friend Breast Cancer Support is a grassroots, survivor run, non-profit committed to bring local and national attention to the devastating impact breast cancer has on the African American community. Our goal is to educate, empower and advocate for the health and wellness of our community. As African American survivors, and community leaders we recognize the critical need for culturally competent services, health literacy and the myriad of access to care issues faced by African American women residing within our community. We currently provide an array of programs and services: peer and professional support groups, educational outreach, resource networking and navigational screening assistance. We also provide educational outreach to vulnerable and lay populations. With more than 17+ years in the business we are a credible and trusted community resource.

Due the current economy (post pandemic), most battling breast cancer are in need of resources and financial support. Because most face "financial toxicity", with limited resources they may delay or forgo necessary treatments. Our programs and services address health equity via culturally sensitive strategies, structured services, safety nets, health literacy, with interventions. Our support groups consists of social workers and other peer professionals to help those in need of assistance connect the dots. Our transportation program assists in the area of access to care, by removing this barrier to avail timely treatment and to meet treatment completion goals for better outcomes.
