The Ray Highway

The Ray is a proving ground for the evolving ideas and technologies that will transform the transportation infrastructure of the future, and it starts on 18 miles of West Georgia’s I-85, and the land and communities surrounding it.

By innovating from the ground up, we’re creating a regenerative highway ecosystem that reconnects and restores us, paving the way to a safer and more prosperous future for all.

This past year has been a big one for The Ray. A few highlights include: 

• partnering with MnDOT and NGI Consulting to release the NextGen Highways Feasibility Study, 
• completing the installation of a slope stabilization research project at Exit 14 on I-85 with the support of the Horne Family Foundation, 
• assembling an Advisory Council of industry leaders, 
• designing a 3-tier plan with TxDOT for Texas SMARTTrack—a neutral research and testing center for public-private collaboration on technology solutions,
• teaming up with GeoTab to perform data-driven analysis to guide EV charging infrastructure along U.S. interstates, and 
• demonstrating a fully operational connected vehicle environment alongside our partners at GDOT, Panasonic, and Kia Georgia.

These examples all demonstrate that here at The Ray we are proof that "many hands make light work." Our vast network of partners, advisers, and supporters—YOU!—make many hands, and together we make the work of building net-zero highways light work. So this year for Giving Tuesday, The Ray is hosting a Thank-a-Thon to uplift our deep appreciation for all of you that make our work possible.
