NAMI Southwestern Illinois

NAMI SWI currently has signature programs that include public presentations, support groups, and and education classes for persons with mental illness, and their families and others affected by these illness. Currently NAMI SWI has 12 support groups per month. We have specific presentations that include: "Ending the Silence" which targets youth who face their own struggles. "In Your Own Voice" targeting persons who have mental health conditions by sharing NAMI-SWI member recovery stories. We provide a special class "Homefront" which educates families, caregivers and friends of military service members and veterans with mental health conditions. NAMI SWI also provides education to our local police departments in "Crisis Intervention Training" (CIT), creating a diversion program for those with mental illnesses to receive help, instead of being incarcerated.
