Northern Area Multi Service Center

To help individuals and families who are at risk achieve and/or maintain the maximum level of independence that they can, with the highest quality of life, in a result oriented, cost-effective manner.

We are seeking help to meet the basic needs of consumers in three specific areas:

NAMS Transportation provides door to door transportation services to seniors and disabled individuals throughout Allegheny County. We provide more than 240,000 trips and drive more than 2.5 million miles each year. All of those trips mean a lot of miles on our fleet. That's why we need your help. We have an increasing need for easy to access sedans for our consumers who do not need a lift van. Our goal is to secure 5 used sedans to compliment an aging sedan fleet. Total project cost estimated @ $50,000.

NAMS Community Services (Food & Nutrition) provides for seniors through 4 Senior Centers and 3 Meals on Wheels (MOW) sites. The Centers offer activities and meals to local seniors, as well as delivery of staples to area veterans. MOW provides 85,000+ meals a year and wellness checks to ensure that seniors are healthy and safe. We are seeking donations so our Centers can buy refrigeration units and supplies to develop fresh food distribution centers for local seniors and veterans. We are also in need of a new MOW delivery truck to provide an additional 15,000 meals a year and fresh food deliveries to local Pittsburghers in need.

NAMS Refugee Resettlement (Housing, Health, Transportation) program helps hundreds of uprooted refugees integrate into American life and achieve independence. By connecting refugees to safe housing, and healthcare, we set the foundation for them to thrive in the Pittsburgh community. We need your help to continue this vital work. Your generosity can help alleviate the stress of starting over by providing funds for rent, utility assistance, and bus passes to get to English class and work.
