Since the very beginning as a grassroots committee in the early 1980's, North County Community Food Bank has passionately cared for individuals in need in the area. Our purpose and driving mission is creating a community where no one goes hungry. Our daily goal is serving each person we meet with dignity and respect, listening and then addressing their unique needs. NCCFoodbank not only provides emergency food supplies, we offer individuals the specific connections they are seeking from area healthcare to social services and employment. In addition, we provide basic life skills education tools, such as financial planning & credit repair, healthy cooking and nutrition education, targeted education for those living with chronic illnesses, organic gardening and much, much more. Many of our courses are specifically designed for adults and youth. Providing each family, and individual the basic building blocks necessary to strengthen their resolve, build their confidence, and regain hope while improving their situation for whatever life throws at them. Life is tough, and we're here to help.
NCCFoodBank offers individuals a variety of basic life skills courses, for all ages, free of charge. Partnering with local area organizations, agencies, and local businesses we give folks the knowledge, skills and ability to be successful. Working closely with Beacon Farm and the WSU Master Gardening program, we also provide clients with their own community garden plots free of charge following a 6 week course on organic gardening, preservation and healthy cooking. In collaboration with the Clark College Culinary Institute, we offer youth, the chance to learn everything about how to become a Chef, work in a restaurant or commercial kitchen, food safety and healthy cooking skills for life, through our 6-week Celebrity Chef and Kids in the Kitchen course. NCCFoodBank is more than a food pantry, we are a vibrant part of the community. Our goal is motivating youth to reach for the stars, rebuilding the hope, strength, courage and ability of many who are struggling, while providing nourishment for the mind, body and soul.
NCCFoodBank has developed amazing relationships throughout the area and beyond, over the 40 plus years we've been assisting local neighbors in need. These relationships come over time, developing an understanding of who we are, what we do, and getting past misconceptions of what a food bank or food pantry truly is, as well as getting past misconceptions of who needs their services. We are very proud of these relationships and the strength in community the comes from the trust and respect as a result from this community education. Nonprofits like North County Community Food Bank and the many other nonprofits throughout SW Washington are a vital link, that makes our communities DNA much stronger and more resilient.
