You Are Not Alone!

1 in 5 people live with a mental health condition. So chances are you or someone you know has been affected.  For 45 years NAMI WA has been providing mental health support in communities around the state (including Kitsap County) free of charge to the community.

The families and members of NAMI Kitsap County are here to help! We offer understanding to anyone concerned about mental illnesses and the treatment of mental illness.

Mental illnesses are brain disorders that are biologically based medical problems. Untreated, they can cause severe disturbances in thinking, feeling and relating. This results in substantially diminished capacity for dealing with the ordinary demands of life. Mental illness can affect persons of any age and occur in any family. They are not caused by bad parenting and not evidence of weakness of character.

One of NAMI’s main goals is to ensure that people get help early. Since mental health conditions typically begin during childhood, adolescence or young adulthood, we have compiled essential information and resources intended to help young people get the mental health support they need.

NAMI Washington provides two programs which focus primarily on youth.  The first is "Ending the Silence," an evidence-based free presentation which serves students in middle and high school, families and staff members.  These presentations include two leaders; one who shares an informative presentation and a young adult with a mental health condition who shares their journey to recovery.  The second program is NAMI on Campus.  This is a student-led and student-run mental health club on high school and college campuses.

Please help us in our journey to provide early support to youth in our community by donating today!
