Nami Montgomery County

NAMI MC’s goals are to increase knowledge about mental illness, help link members to community resources, assist lower income families in accessing free services and treatment, and reduce the stigma of mental illness in Montgomery County. All NAMI MC services and programs are provided at no cost in both English and Spanish

While our work cannot decrease the prevalence of these debilitating diseases, we offer interventions that empowers and enhance the lives of those we serve. In fact, NAMI MC’s commitment and ability to serve our community is best seen by reports from participants. A recent participant said:

“The referral and positive support given to me by NAMI MC has lead to therapy, medication, and ongoing treatment for my mental illness. I can't imagine what my life would have come to without their care and support. God Bless NAMI MC!! You have helped to make me whole.”

One participant from our Family-to-Family class wrote:

“I felt so helpless at the start of this class.  This class gave me the knowledge I need to understand my son’s illness and to try to help in his recovery. I feel better armed to deal and help him now.”

A participant from a support group commented:

“I look forward to attending this support group each month.  I am not able to share what I go through with my friends.  These people “get it” when no one else in my life does.”

For the vast majority of people with mental illness, they are, or can be, productive members of society if they receive the treatment they so desperately need. With free community supports, like NAMI MC’s classes, the impact of mental illness on lives and families is minimized.
