Since 1992, NatLaw has developed innovative, pragmatic legal solutions that fuel economic inclusivity and empower grassroots growth. We have drafted or advised on commercial laws in more than 25 countries throughout the world, building the legal infrastructure necessary for globally competitive commerce. As a result of our work, businesses and entrepreneurs in developing nations have had the access to credit they need to build businesses and lift themselves out of poverty. Our work has had a positive impact on thousands of people throughout Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, especially in the areas of Documentary Credits, International Banking Practices, Secured Transactions Laws, and more. Our namesake and Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Boris Kozolchyk, played a role in making NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement, now known as the USMCA - U.S.- Mexico-Canada Agreement) a reality.
"I want to congratulate Dr. Kozolchyk for his work in establishing the National Law Center...it is your commitment and the commitment of other dedicated individuals at the state and local level that will make this path-breaking agreement a reality. Thank you for your participation and your support."
- Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States (1993-2001) - Speaking at an event to sign NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) into law
"For more than 25 years, the Kozolchyk National Law Center has been a close partner with the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law. Boris Kozolchyk helped shape our program in international trade, commercial and business law. Generations of students from the U.S. and around the world, seeking the JD, LLM, and SJD - over 100 interns! -- have had the opportunity to work on projects with faculty and mentors at NatLaw. Graduates have worked full time at NatLaw. And the connection between the prominent Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law has for decades produced leading scholarship, again with the mentorship and partnership of NatLaw and its leaders."
- Marc L. Miller, Dean & Ralph W. Bilby Professor of Law, James E. Rogers College of Law, University of Arizona
"I would like to express special recognition to Dr. Boris Kozolchyk for his support of inter-American free trade. The Center, inspired by Dr. Kozolchyk, played a definite part in making the North American Free Trade Agreement a reality. Center members have held a vision for many years of free trade as a stepping stone of respective legal systems in order to exchange that results from this commercial agreement. The Mexican government works within the framework of its sovereignty so that free trade may contribute to the overall well-being, equity and equality of all Mexicans. On behalf of the United Mexican States, I congratulate the members of the National Law Center for their accomplishments to date, and I wish them the best success for the future."
- Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de Leon, President of Mexico (1994-2000)
"Dr. Boris Kozolchyk belongs to a select group of giants of commercial law of the twentieth century, among whom I would list Cesare Vivante in Italy, Georges Ripert in France and Karl Llewellyn in the United States. Just imagine the analytical and practical capacity necessary to be able to unify the rules on the bank's standard of diligence when examining the documents presented to them for payment around a governing principle: The documents must be examined by a banker acting in a prudent and reasonable manner in accordance with international standard banking practice as reflected in these rules. Further, imagine the ability to synthesize centuries of commercial practices in different latitudes and markets involved in the formula of a best commercial practice: one that is capable of being carried out with cost effectiveness and fairness to its participants. And, as they say in my home state of Sinaloa, 'and this is just a sample.' By attributing to myself the status of a representative of humanity, I can thank in its name Boris Kozolchyk for his luminous contribution to the encounter of the man of the future. One good day many other legal research centers will be established in which his ideas will continue to enlighten all of us who pride ourselves in being known as commercial lawyers."
