Nebraska Brass Inc

The Nebraska Brass, recipient of a 2013 Mayor's Arts Award, has been reaching audiences in dozens of communities in the state since 1987, presenting a five-concert series in Lincoln. The ensemble performs a variety of brass ensemble literature and commissions new works for brass quintet, preserving and promoting this valuable art form.

Educating students is also a priority for the Nebraska Brass. Through its educational outreach program, “Brass Goes to School,” the ensemble has reached thousands of students for over a decade. This program places the Nebraska Brass in Lincoln area schools, where it performs exciting and age-appropriate music, provide informative commentary about the music and instruments, while fielding a variety of questions. Many of the educational concerts are presented to schools with diverse and underserved populations who may not normally be able to experience a professional musical ensemble performance. The Nebraska Brass also provides a coupon to every student at educational concerts allowing the student’s entire family to attend a Nebraska Brass series concert free of charge.

The Nebraska Brass is comprised of some of Nebraska’s finest professional brass players. These musicians also serve as educators at the elementary, middle school, high school, or college level, and/or are private studio teachers.
