The neighbors across the street that always seems to have the police at their door, the quiet single dad at dance class that keeps to himself in the corner always looking busy, your best friend from high school who was always there for you that seems to have disappeared since meeting that great person online, your clumsy sister that always seems to be hurting herself, your aunt, your cousin, your coworker, that stranger next to you in line… domestic violence and sexual assault does not discriminate, it does not care how old you are, how much money you have, where you live, or who you are related to. 

On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. ... 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have been victims of [some form of] physical violence by an intimate partner within their lifetime. One in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives. Last year, NELCWIT served nearly 1,500 survivors and answered over 2,000 calls to our crisis line (413-772-0806).

Since 1976, NELCWIT has been helping survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault in Franklin County and the North Quabbin Area. We offer support groups, individual counseling, 24/7 crisis support, emergency basic needs, and assistance with orders of protection. We run the Franklin County Child Visitation Program (FCCVP), where children can visit with a non-custodial parent in a supervised and safe setting.
