The mission of the Boy Scouts of America and the Nevada Area Council is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.

The Nevada Area Council has been serving the youth of Nevada and Eastern California for over 70 years. We encompass the second largest geographical sized Council in the lower 48 states. That's over 100,000 square miles and 23 counties in Nevada and Eastern California.

We serve over 6,700 active youth in America's #1 Character Building program. These youth range from 6 years old in our Tiger Cub program to 20 years old in our Venturing and High Adventure Progams. We also serve youth in our Exploring and Learning for Life programs.

Over 448 Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, Venturing Crews, Sea Scout Ships and Explorer Posts are operated under a variety of sponsoring organizations including churches, community organizations, schools and local businesses.

We support over 3,300 volunteers and provide training and development programs to further both their leadership skills and personal development.

It will take about $1.7 million dollars to provide all these services to the youth and volunteers of our Council. Monies go towards program, unit development, camping facilities, training programs and of course administration.

We service our youth and volunteers through 8 geographical districts. Our districts, through a District Committee, provide additional training opportunities, unit service through the Commissioner Corps and programs such as Camporees and Day Camps.
