For more than 25 years, the Nevada Women’s Fund has worked to strengthen our community by empowering women to improve their lives and the lives of their families. We identify critical social needs and address them through scholarships and community grant programs. Supporting Nevada Women’s Fund means supporting a broad-based approach of investing in both individuals in need and the service providers who help address those needs.

In 2012, the Nevada Women’s Fund awarded $150,500 to 13 local organizations that share our goal of strengthening and empowering the community with a focus on women’s health, aging and violence prevention. The two largest recipients included Volunteers of America/Family Shelter, where women account for 92% of the families served and the Food Bank of Northern Nevada’s Bridges out of Poverty program to transition individuals off of assistance.

Additionally, more than $117,000 in scholarships were awarded to 74 Nevada women in fields ranging from health care and education to business and engineering. Many of these scholarship recipients have gone on to complete school and establish themselves as professionals in our community who now are able to give back and support others in need.

The Fund also recognizes and celebrates the outstanding achievements of women in our community and the critical contributions they make in support of Nevada Women’s Fund. Since 1983, the Fund has raised and awarded more than $6 million to more than 1200 women and 140 organizations.

We do all of this through our events and fundraisers like Nevada’s Big Give. Thank you for supporting our shared goal of a strong and healthy community!
