New Hampshire Community Loan Fund

The New Hampshire Community Loan Fund’s neighbors-investing-in-neighbors model turns donations and impact investor funds into loans and services for homeowners, small businesses, nonprofits, and communities. During our 40+ years of service, we’ve helped purchase or preserve over 11,000 affordable homes, paired with wrap-around coaching and guidance services that help borrowers navigate repayment and become financially secure. 

Today, manufactured housing remains the most affordable option for working families and first-time buyers. 

But too many people don’t have the savings for a down payment and closing costs. That’s why our Homeowners’ Assistance Loan offers 0% loans to cover both. These loans are only repaid when the home is sold, refinanced, or until the first mortgage is paid in full.  

There’s just one problem: the program is so popular that we’ve used up all our funding for this fiscal year!

Housing security increases health, psychological, educational, employment, and safety outcomes. When homeownership rates increase, crime is lower, and kids do better in school — everyone wins. 

Who We Are

Two beliefs have driven our work since 1983:
-- We believe the lack of access to credit keeps people with low incomes from achieving greater self-sufficiency.
-- We also believe that people and organizations with financial resources are willing to help their neighbors when they have a mechanism to do so.

We are a catalyst, leveraging financial, human, and civic resources to enable traditionally underserved people to participate more fully in New Hampshire’s economy.

We do this by:
-- Providing loans, capital and technical assistance;
-- Complementing and extending the reach of conventional lenders and public institutions; and
-- Bringing people and institutions together to solve problems.

We help families and businesses in all 10 NH counties -- from Keene to Berlin, Hanover to Portsmouth, and everywhere in between like Manchester, Nashua, Concord, the Lakes Region, the North Country, and the Upper Valley.
