New Horizon Theater, Inc. (NHT) was founded with the mission to bring to the greater Pittsburgh area consistent, high-quality cultural events, reflecting the African-American points of view, and to provide an ongoing venue for ethnic writers and performers to further their professional development.

Queens Of The Blues by Joe Plummer and Sanetta Y. Gipson was mounted from October 23, 2014 - November 2, 2014. This musical was a bluesical fantasy that took place in Heaven. God summoned Thomas Dorsey along with his bandmate Tampa Red to see if they could get  "The Queens Of The Blues" Ma Rainey, Bessie Smith, Koko Taylor and Etta James, out of Purgatory and earn their wings.
