New Orleans Recreation Development Foundation

The NORD Foundation supports the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission's mission to advance the physical, mental and social well-being of New Orleanians by providing safe and welcoming environments for recreational, athletic and cultural experiences. We facilitate investment in equal access to recreational opportunities, to improve the quality of life across our city and build a great community in which to raise families, develop talented employees and enjoy good health at every age.

The NORD Commission (NORDC) provides a wide variety of quality programming and facilities with the help of our generous sponsors and donors. This year, all donations from GiveNOLA Day will support the expansion of NORD Programming for Seniors, our Annual Special Needs Mardi Gras Ball, and Holiday in the Park LED light celebrating the Holidays.

The NORD Foundation supports the City's recreation department (NORDC) by leveraging your private donations to assure all New Orleanians have access to programming, recreational activities and facilities. The programs that we are seeking to raise funds for are for our most vulnerable and underserved populations including Senior citizens and Special needs.

Signature programs supported by sponsorships and donations to the NORD Foundation include:
• Youth athletics: flag and tackle football, basketball, cheerleading and dance, track & field, baseball, softball, soccer, flag football, volleyball and tennis
• Aquatics and swim lessons for all ages
• Summer camps for 2,500 youth, with a maximum cost of $15 per week serving children from low-income families
• Teen Career Camps, which provide 1,000 13- to 15-year-olds with expanded lea

In 2022, NORD achieved national reaccreditation, demonstrating national best practices, and have maintained this honor for the past 7 years. This accomplishment is the culmination of an arduous post-Katrina journey and fulfillment.
