Since 1968, New Way Academy, a 501(c)(3) organization and school dedicated to teaching children with learning differences, has been the key to success for students who struggle to learn. Students such as Elijah, who was struggling emotionally, socially and academically so badly that he was becoming defiant and getting into trouble both at home and school. By 6th grade, Elijah was at a 2nd and 3rd grade level in all academic subjects. His self esteem was very low. After coming to New Way in the 7th grade, Elijah began doing his homework on his own, developed more independence and honed his organization skills, with strategies provided by New Way teachers. Now, he is excited about learning and attending school and feels much better about himself. New Way Academy has given Elijah a new lease on life.

Over the last 45 years, New Way has helped thousands of students, much like Elijah, unlock their potential and go on to lead productive, enhanced lives by providing individualized instruction in an empowering setting. The demand for students who need our help has never been greater. You can show your support and belief in the potential of our students by giving to New Way Academy on AZ Gives Day.

New Way Academy is proud to be the premier K-12 independent day school approved by the Arizona Dept of Education to serve students with language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia, ADHD, Asperger's, and executive functioning difficulties. Our mission is to educate children with learning differences to fulfill their potential, therefore, we are committed to meeting the specific learning needs of our students and we teach the way each child learns. At New Way, students have the opportunity to build upon their strengths, understand their learning needs, and develop confidence in themselves through our academic, athletic, and extracurricular programs. As a result, New Way students associate learning not with failure, but with success, and develop into confident life-long learners who lead enhanced, productive lives and serve as positive examples of what individuals with learning differences can achieve.

In the Fall of 2011, The Bridgeway Transition Program was created by New Way Academy because of this need to support graduating seniors through the transition to a post-secondary program, as well as students who have gone on to a college program but dropped out due to lack of support. Bridgeway exists to empower students with the resources, support, and guidance needed to overcome learning challenges in order to successfully complete an academic program and start a career, thus becoming productive, contributing members of society.

Your support on AZ Gives Day will allow New Way Academy, and our sister program Bridgeway Transition Program, to expand our services and capacity to support the estimated 56,000 students in Arizona who have a diagnosed learning difference. Your gift today gives students who have struggled to learn the opportunity to succeed.

If you just can’t wait, schedule your donation to occur on March 20th. Above the green Donate button is a drop-down menu; just select “On a Giving Day” and your gift will qualify for matching gifts and help us reach more kids!
