$300,000 Goal

The purpose of this fundraiser is to create and operate transitional housing and job readiness programs in Atlanta, Columbus, middle and south Georgia. This fundraiser is a concerted effort to expand our services to further support the dynamic work we do to support and empower those with criminal convictions in the areas of employment, job readiness, and education while addressing the rising homelessness among those being released from incarceration.

We know the country and the world is hurting right now but we have people right here in our own communities who also need your help and you can make a difference and provide 2nd chances by donating today to NewLife-Second Chance Outreach, Inc.

We are not our pasts and even in times when we have made mistakes, we are still deserving of 2nd chances that will support us on our journeys to becoming productive individuals. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics, the U.S. spends $81 billion a year to lock people up but does very little to help them once they are released. In 2017, the Prison Policy Initiative estimated the actual cost to state and federal governments and impacted families is roughly $182 billion. Gaining employment and housing are the most critical needs and determining factors of success (or failure) for those returning home from incarceration. Therefore, doesn't it make more sense to spend money to create opportunities and pathways for success in order for recently released individuals to become productive so they can take care of themselves and their families and not re-offend as opposed to spending BILLIONS on a system that causes harm, contributes to trauma, divide families and does nothing to reduce crime?

The mission of NewLife-Second Chance Outreach, Inc. is to reduce crime and recidivism while advocating for social justice, equity, economic and community inclusion by equipping, empowering, and restoring hope to socially and economically disadvantaged individuals impacted by an arrest or criminal conviction through workforce development, job readiness and entrepreneurship so that they may become whole, productive, self-sufficient and law-abiding citizens within their communities. Despite the success we have had at assisting our clients with securing employment, furthering their education, and overcoming incarcerated-related trauma, most of them continue to have housing instability due to a felony conviction. Therefore, we want to BE the change we seek by starting a housing program that will allow our clients to become fully restored citizens WITH DIGNITY through housing. There IS dignity in housing and no one should be without housing. By providing housing in combination with our current services, we will be able to increase our current success by providing support, access, and empowering those in the homes with job readiness skills, educational empowerment, and trauma care allowing them to be fully restored and productive members of their communities thereby reducing their chances of re-offending.

This is where we need your support. Won't you help us reach our goal by donating today?
