NH Teen Institute

The NH Teen Institute is celebrating 40 years of our Summer Leadership Program for high school students - an incredible week of leadership development, community-building, peer mentoring education, prevention & healthy decision-making, and creating amazing life-long friendships (or at least some that are 39 years and counting)!

Along with the Summer Leadership Program, we also offer:

• Leaders In Prevention weekends for middle school students interested in making their schools and communities healthier, safer, and more positive places!
• The Change Project: An active training day to engage up to 250 high school students in breaking down social barriers, creating positive school climate, and promoting healthy decision-making among themselves and their peers!
• Thriving in Middle School: A day of interactive substance abuse prevention workshops for up to 100 middle school students!
• Custom one-day Peer Leadership trainings for up to 30 students that can include team building, Action Planning, substance abuse &/or violence prevention education, presentation skills, and much more!
• Workshops on substance abuse prevention and reproductive/sexual health for Project Safeguard days, health fairs, or youth conferences!
• Parent Education opportunities for parents of middle & high school students to learn & grow together!
• Professional development workshops for caring adults working in prevention, behavioral health, education, and more!

Each summer, approximately 90% of our SLP particpants and their families need partial or full scholarship assistance to attend. This is what of some of our recent SLP graduates say about the program meant to them:

Since 1983, the NH Teen Institute has been providing dynamic, experiential camps and workshops for middle and high school students around NH and New England to increase their knowledge and build skills in a variety of valuable leadership and peer mentoring topics including substance use and addiction, bullying prevention & building positive school climate, sexual health, conflict resolution, and health and wellness. Our programs connect participants with their peers and school & community action organizations so they can channel this new (or renewed) energy toward the betterment of their communities.
