Neurologic Music Therapy Services of Arizona’s/NMTSA vision is to unlesh the unique potential of individuals with disabilities. NMTSA is committed to changing the lives of individuals with disabilities through innovative and dynamic programs, education, and collaborations.

NMTSA strives to 1) innovate and lead in developing and delivering best practice approaches and access to neurologic music therapy services, 2) excel in the general education of persons with neurologic impairments , 3) deliver community education/training to family members, caregivers, and professionals regarding NMT and the use of rhythm in the identification and implementation of accommodations and positive supports, and 4) promote advances in research related to best practice approaches. Our methodology and treatment is the same used with Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in her recovery.  

NMTSA has served the Phoenix Community since 1982. It was the first private organization to provide music therapy services in Phoenix, the first group of music therapists to apply neurologic music therapy (NMT) to persons with developmental disabilities and autism in particular, the first NMT clinic in the United States, and currently the first autism education program of its kind. NMTSA became a nonprofit organization in 2005 in order to more fully and effectively carryout its mission of serving all who can benefit from the programs offered, not just those who can afford it. NMTSA continuously strives for the development of innovative, unique programs that reflect best practices that maximize the potential and community integration of the people it serves. NMTSA strives to partner with like-minded individuals and organizations in order to develop, fund, and build sustainability of all of its programs.

Populations served include persons with autism, traumatic brain injury, visually impairments, developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, down syndrome, stroke, parkinson’s, and infantile stroke. NMTSA serves persons ranging from 2 months to 92 years of age.  Additionally, NMTSA offers community education and training sessions to support teams in Arizona as well as around the U.S. –offering on and off site training as well as Skype consultation.
