National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals, Inc. is a professional society for LGBT people in STEM.  Call us by our acronym, NOGLSTP.  Pronounce it: "Naw'-goal-step".

NOGLSTP empowers lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by providing education, advocacy, professional development, networking, and peer support.

NOGLSTP educates all communities regarding scientific, technological, and medical concerns of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer people.

This mission is accomplished through symposia and workshops at professional society meetings, professional networking, recognition awards, scholarships, a mentoring program, and our biannual signature event, Out to Innovate Career Summit for LGBT People in STEM.

Although membership dues support a quarterly newsletter and a very modest outreach program, NOGLSTP depends on additional donations to sustain their program goals, some of which are:

  • Host a reception at each of the annual meetings of AAAS, ACS, FACEB, IEEE, SWE, SACNAS, ASEE, and other professional societies
  • Annual Recognition Awards program
  • Mentoring program for LGBT science/engineering students.
  • Traveling educational exhibit featuring queer scientists of historical note.
  • Out to Innnovate Career Summit for LGBT people in STEM
  • Annual scholarship fund
  • Travel support to national conferences to present workshops, symposia
  • Fund start-up expenses for local NOGLSTP chapters.

NOGLSTP has no paid staff. The entire program is managed by volunteer members who work or study in science, technology, engineering, or math fields.
