The mission of the North Alabama Medical Reserve Corps is to recruit and train medical and non-medical volunteers to supplement existing community organizations in preparing for and responding to an emergency or disaster and to provide community education in disease awareness and prevention during non-crisis times.

In 2014-2015, NAMRC volunteers carried out dozens of activities and reached out to more than 10,000 residents. Volunteers provided free health screenings to more than 700 residents. More than 500 children and families benefited from Families on the Go, a childhood obesity prevention initiative.  A dozen disaster-related workshops and trainings were offered, and volunteers provided more than 1,500 free flu shots to area residents.
