National Organization Growing A Local Presence

Since 1992, the North American Land Trust (NALT) has
focused on preserving open spaces across the United States. We protect and
manage areas with ecological, agricultural, and historical value. At the same
time, we keep our roots strong in Chadds Ford, PA. We have more than 500
conservation easements in 24 states. Together, they protect over 139,000 acres
of land.  One goal that was yet to be realized was having our very own
public preserve. In 2021, thanks to our partners and community, we opened
Brinton Run Preserve. This is our first public preserve, located in Delaware
County!

Brinton Run Preserve has strengthened NALT’s ties to
the communities in Delaware and Chester Counties. Since Brinton Run
Preserve opened, we’ve held many events like tree planting, monarch tagging,
walks with doctors, and birding walks. These activities have helped us connect
with lots of neighbors and friends. Our initiatives have helped us offer
more engaging services to our neighbors and friends. One example is lawn to
meadow conversions.  We have big plans for the future of Brinton Run
Preserve, and they all include you! 

Our Plans
in Delaware County

Our big plans don’t just stop with Brinton Run
Preserve! NALT has the opportunity to acquire a key piece of historic land
in Chadds Ford: the Joseph Davis Tract. This land was part of the 1777
Battle of Brandywine and was once home to the famous painter and illustrator N.C.
Wyeth! We want to preserve this beautiful land forever. Our plan is to
create a 16-acre public preserve. We also aim to move our headquarters to the
historic house in the center of the property. This house was once part of a
local tavern from the 1800s! We’re excited about this beautiful property
and how it can help us serve and strengthen our local community.
