The NC Conservation Network was launched in 1998 by a collaborative effort of more than 60 NC conservation, environmental justice, and community groups to improve the community`s communications and its capacity for effective advocacy.
The NC Conservation Network coordinates the following services for our affiliates:
* News Digest: An electronic media clipping service compiled and distributed each weekday.
* Weekly Alert: E-mail updates on state, agency, board, and commission actions and upcoming decisions.
* Legislative Update: A weekly e-mail while the NC General Assembly is in session, which provides comprehensive updates, analysis, and insights into all environmental issues being considered.
* Skills Trainings: The NC Conservation Network works with affiliate organizations to identify desired skills trainings for communities designed to help strengthen the effectiveness of affiliate organizations.
* Annual Retreat: A two day event which features presentations from issues experts, previews of upcoming proposals from advocates and elected officials, skills training workshops, networking opportunities, and an opportunity for relaxation and renewal.
* Convening and Coordinating Coalitions: The NC Conservation Network acts as a catalyst for coordination of community efforts, including linking activists together to form coalitions.
* Job Listing: Part of the NC Conservation Network's interactive website which provides affiliate organizations with the ability to widely post their job listings.
* Calendar of Events: Also part of the NC Conservation Network's interactive website, a calendar of events which provides a comprehensive look at upcoming environmental activities in NC.
* Online Campaigns: Another part of the NC Conservation Network's interactive website which allows affiliate organizations to post campaigns and have responses sent directly to the appropriate decision-makers.
