North Valley Art League is an all volunteer, non-profit community of artists dedicated to furthering the visual arts in our community and the California's north state.  The League's Gallery is the historic Carter House located on the banks of the Sacramento River in Caldwell Park, Redding, CA.

Founded in 1979 by a group of eight local artists, the North Valley Art League now boasts a membership of over 200 members.  NVAL Carter House Gallery provides an attractive, nurturing environment for many talented, experienced artists, as well as emerging new artists.

Artist learning, sharing and growth is fostered through our many programs.  We sponsor workshops, art classes, member and featured artist shows, along with Juried Shows available to our members and the public.

NVAL Carter House Gallery is an excellent place to purchase original quality fine artwork and gifts by local artists.  We hope you will visit us!

Member Shows:  The Carter House Gallery gives NVAL members the opportunity to display and sell their artwork throughout the year.  The art in the Gallery is ever-changing as new shows are hung approximately every month.  It is the continual rotation and variety of quality fine art that make the frequent visits to the Carter House Gallery a 'must-do' for people living in and passing through California's North State.  Each member show features a reception for the artists and public.

Exhibits at Redding City Hall: NVAL assists the City of Redding by providing artwork for four, three-month shows per year at the Redding City Hall.

Annual Juried Exhibits:  NVAL puts on juried competitions each year, which are open to members and non-members.  Each show features exceptional art and is exhibited throughout the entire gallery.  International, National, Regional and Local juried shows have been organized by NVAL.

Gift Shop:  The NVAL Gift Shop features a wonderful display of artwork created by our members:  jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, glasswork, gourds, pottery, metalwork, hand-painted silk items, weavings, wood pieces, soft sculpture, cards, prints, and other original creations.  It is a place to purchase unique gifts for any occasion.

Classes/Workshops:  Classes and workshops in a variety of media run throughout the year giving NVAL members and guest artists an opportunity to share their particular art form with others.  Itis a time to learn, to create and enjoy the company of other artists.  The classes and workshops NVAL offers are open to the public.

Open Studio:  NVAL has a wonderful studio located in the front portion of the Carter House Gallery.  There is no charge for members to enjoy the studio, which offers a perfect place to create art.  Members work on their art, share techniques and socialize with other members and receive friendly and useful critique from fellow artists.

Children's Art Program: The League's art program for children is an ongoing community activity put on in conjunction with the City of Redding's Summer Recreation Program.  Kids supply the imagination, and accomplished artists from the League present the techniques for a variety of creative art projects.

Membership:  Please join us!  Annual membership fees are vital to the continuation of NVAL's efforts.  The organization's operating budget is solely sustained by membership dues, contributions, and the many activities put on by our dedicated volunteers.  Membership information is on the NVAL website, nval.org.  Click Membership from the Main Menu for details.

Become a Volunteer:  Volunteering is the backbone of NVAL and is greatly appreciated!  We have no paid staff.  All of NVAL's many activities are put on by our dedicated volunteers, and there are numerous ways to help.  For more information on becoming a North Valley Art League volunteer please visit our website and click on "Volunteer Opportunities".
