North Texas Youth Connection

North Texas Youth Connection provides a shelter so that homeless and disenfranchised young people (ages 10 through 17) can achieve a stable living situation and receive shelter, clothing, food, medical attention and education. The organization was established in Sherman, TX, in 1976, and has operated continuously since that time. While our primary focus is on youth from the North Texas area, we provide assistance and referrals any homeless young person who is at our target age. We are a private, not-for-profit agency. We are also the Safe Place responding agency for Cooke, Grayson and Fannin counties.

Our Needs

We want all youth to have more recreational opportunities not just indoors but outdoors as well; ultimately, we want them to get up and move! Using recreational time in a safe environment designed for residents who are ages 10 through 17, they will learn healthy coping mechanisms to deal with the emotional stresses they must face in order to be productive and reach their goals. To accomplish these goals, the outdoor space needs to be completely renovated including a fence, a swing set, a picnic table, and more. We hope these changes will energize the youth about their futures and encourage them to get out in the community in a positive way through internships and career exploration opportunities.
