The Northampton Cycling Club was founded in 1999 John Frey, JD Bilodeau  and Adam Myerson as an “elite development” program for local bike racers.   During the period of 1999-2005, NCC’s support was instrumental in launching the careers of many well known professional cyclists such as multi-time U.S. Cylocross National Champion, Jeremy Powers, Masters Mtn Bike National Champion and renowned coach, Al Donahue.

In 2006 after the initial leadership of the club had disbanded, due to relocations and other reasons, an entirely new board of directors took over NCC and recast its mission to support expansion of the entire cycling community as opposed to just elite development.  Under the new board, NCC offered beginner rides, bike safety programs, Jr. cycling grants, race participation rewards and a triathlon team as well as the introduction of NCC’s flagship community event, BikeFest which is a community celebration of cycling for cyclist of all levels.
