Great Futures Start Here … At Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County
Did you know:
Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County believes that every child – whether living in a big city or small town –- has the potential to achieve a great future. More importantly, the local Club here, established in 2007 serves over 500 kids per year and reflects the findings of a national Harris Interactive survey of Club alumni, in which 57% said, “the Club saved my life.”
“I am a prime example of the need for a community-based safe haven like Boys & Girls Clubs,” said Denzel Washington, who joined the Club in Mount Vernon, NY at age six. “Without the support and mentoring of the Club, I’m afraid to think where I would be today. I certainly would not have the life I do now.” Washington celebrated 20 years as BGCA’s national spokesperson in 2012.
The Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County provides high-impact, affordable programs, and caring adult mentors, to keep kids on the path to great futures, emphasizing academic success, good character and citizenship, and healthy lifestyles.
As we've moved into 2013, we have not only continued to provide quality programs and activities to our youth, but we've expand our footprint in Kootenai County by opening our new facility, the Boys & Girls Club of Kootenai County Jordan Johnson Center at 200 W. Mullan Avenue in Post Falls. We are beyond excited for our members to now have a space all their own - a Clubhouse, complete with a full-size gym where they can learn about teamwork through a myriad of team sports, a modern technology center where they can learn to explore their gifts and talents in the creative realm all while gaining experience and expertise that will help them in the future, and a large prep-kitchen where they can learn about healthy eating habits and get some nourishment after a long day at school.
We operate on contributions from the community to support after-school activities for hundreds of youth in Kootenai County. Your contribution helps keep membership affordable and open to all. Really, it helps fill the gap between the low fees charged for membership ($20/child for the school year, $20/child for the summer) and the true cost of providing programs for each child (nearly $600 per year). Please invest in our youth today!
